An impromptu school holiday photo shoot sparked by a little freestyle art session on the used end of my photo paper roll.

This was right in the midst of the baby python episode, where Alvy captured a baby python, named it Bruceita and planned to keep it for the next 30 years. So in part it started as a homage to Bruceita, there’s a snake theme.

I would love to leave this hanging in the lounge room permanently, alas, it was tackled to the ground and subsequently packed up not long after. I think finding a space where I can make more magic happen more often would be on the wish list.

If you’re going to attempt something of this scale with kids, I recommend doing it in 2 sessions for their short attention span and tendency for projects to move quickly from creation to destruction (that might just be boys). Expect paint on the floor, hands, feet and clothes and let go of any control of the situation - Don’t be scared to get involved and have fun!

A warm Autumn afternoon at Currumbin Alley with my favourite subjects, humans (one of mine) and the landscape 💙

This is what I’ve been sketching lately. I wouldn’t say it’s my style. I’d say it’s just kind of what’s happening when I put pen to paper and try not to ‘think’ too much, it’s also determined by what I have access to which, at the moment, is pen and paper and pockets of time, and that’s just fine! ☀️

This is a reminder to just do. Do things that interests you. Do them badly - let your kids see you try and fail and try again - Do them without worrying about the outcome, do them without the time or resources you think you need. Just start imperfectly where you are, with what you have.
